Job Title: Ethos Farm to Health Field Manager 

Ethos Farm to Health is a non-profit whose focus is the intersection of agriculture, environment, and human health.  We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Field Manager to lead our regenerative vegetable production, support our mission-driven work, and help steward our 342-acre farm. This role is ideal for someone who values collaboration, believes in farming as a path to community health, and has 3 to 5 years farming experience including some management. 

Position Summary 
The Ethos Farm to Health Field Manager collaborates daily with the Farm Manager to oversee the full cycle of crop production and market readiness at our certified organic farm. This role leads the farm team, plans and manages the growing season from seed to harvest, and ensures that high-quality produce reaches our farm market and community programs. The Ethos Farm to Health Field Manager is both strategic and hands-on, balancing daily field work with planning on less than 2 acres, systems development, and team leadership. This is a Market Garden style of vegetable production.

Job Description  

Growing & Production 

  • Plan and execute annual and seasonal crop plans, including crop rotation, field mapping, seeding schedules, transplanting, cultivation, pest/weed management, irrigation, and harvest. 

  • Maintain organic certification standards and ensure compliance with regenerative and soil-building practices. 

  • Monitor crop health and implement sustainable solutions focused on soil biology, biodiversity, and minimal inputs. 

  • Track yields, harvest data, and field performance to improve future planning and efficiency. 

 Team Leadership 

  • Lead, train, and mentor the field crew, interns, volunteers, and seasonal staff with clear expectations and supportive coaching. 

  • Help recruit, interview and support hiring process of field crew and volunteers. 

  • Coordinate daily workflow and task assignments; set priorities and make sure team members understand the “why” behind each task. 

  • Foster a collaborative work culture where ideas are welcomed, problems are solved together, and everyone feels valued and empowered. 

  • Communicate openly and proactively, holding regular check-ins, sharing daily goals, and ensuring farm crew understand timelines and standards. 

                           Market & Post-Harvest Management 

  • Manage harvest planning based on market needs, roadside side stand sales, events and programs, and food access partnerships. 

  • Oversee wash/pack area efficiency, quality control, and food safety standards. 

  • Collaborate with the Community/Events Manager to determine farm focus and product storytelling for social media and newsletter. 

 Systems & Administration 

  • Maintain accurate records: plantings, amendments, labor, harvest records, and organic certification documentation. 

  • Support budgeting and forecasting for seeds, supplies, payroll, and equipment. 

  • Continuously evaluate and improve workflows to reduce waste and increase efficiency. 

  • Understanding Farm Budget and adhering to guidelines set by The Ethos Farm to Health Farm Director.  

 Qualifications 

  • Experience in organic vegetable production, ideally on a diversified farm using regenerative or no-till methods. 

  • Proven leadership or crew management experience, clear communicator, strong listener, able to teach. 

  • Ability to operate farm tools and equipment (BCS and hand tools required; tractor experience a plus). 

  • Strong organizational skills, time management, and ability to set priorities in a fast-paced environment. 

  • Passion for sustainable agriculture, soil health, and feeding the community. 

 Physical Requirements 

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs. or more. 

  • Ability to work outside in all weather conditions. 

  • Ability to perform manual labor such as bending, kneeling, and carrying for extended periods. 

 Requirements  

  • Flexible work schedule including weekends.  

  • Familiar with Microsoft 365, Teams, and Excel.  

  • Participation in Ethos events, tours, classes and meetings.  

  • Valid Driver’s License
