Introduction to Mycology & Agroforestry Systems
This introductory course explores the ecological and functional roles of fungi within agroforestry systems, with a strong emphasis on the identification of healthy wild mushrooms and understanding their nutritional benefits. Participants will examine how fungi interact with trees, soils, and microbiomes, and how environmental conditions influence the production of beneficial compounds. The course integrates foundational mycology with practical field identification skills, focusing on locally occurring fungi in Morris County, New Jersey.
Taught by Bruce Filacroft
Bruce Flitcroft is the President of Mendham Mushrooms LLC, an organic agroforestry business growing wild-crafted, functional, and culinary mushrooms. Improving Individual & Environmental Health Through Regenerative Agriculture
Thank you to our friends… The DeSalvos for representing Ethos at this amazing event in collaboration with the Mendham Library!
Jason & Deborah DeSalvo own and farm Cold Brook Farm in Oldwick, NJ where they are Real Organic Project Certified using regenerative organic principles to grow over 70 different fruits, berries, vegetables, nuts and grains.
What exactly is regenerative agriculture, and can it be regenerative without being organic? How can it improve both our personal health and the health of the environment? Is regenerative agriculture just another greenwashed buzzword, or does it have real substance? Most importantly, how can you, as both a consumer and environmental steward ensure that you are supporting real regenerative agriculture that makes a difference?
This program will explore these themes through the personal experiences gained by the DeSalvo’s both on their farm and by their involvement with thought leaders of the wider regenerative agricultural movement.

Finding Beauty Through the Lens: Nature Photography with Sandy Ross
Friday, October 2, 2026
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Join award-winning fine art photographer Sandy Ross for a morning of exploration, observation, and creativity at Ethos Farm to Health.
A resident of Tewksbury Township, Sandy is passionate about capturing the beauty of local landscapes, wildlife, plants, and the quiet moments that often go unnoticed. Her photographs reflect a deep appreciation for the natural world while encouraging stewardship of the land through curiosity, wonder, and a touch of humor.
During this immersive workshop, you'll slow down, look more closely, and discover how photography can reveal the extraordinary within the everyday. Whether you're using a DSLR camera or simply the camera on your smartphone, Sandy will share techniques for creating compelling images inspired by the farm's gardens, fields, flowers, and surrounding landscapes.
Drawing on her background in history, landscape design, and land management, Sandy offers a unique perspective on the relationship between people and place, inviting participants to see the landscape not just as scenery, but as a living story.
As Sandy says:
"Landscape does not always mean terra firma; it can be terra incognita—or terra infirma—and draw from our complex interior spaces and fantastical places where imagined feelings and experiences are uncovered as we live them."
This workshop is perfect for photographers of all experience levels who want to deepen their connection to nature, sharpen their creative eye, and experience the farm through a fresh perspective.
Please bring your camera or smartphone. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Fitness on the Farm #3
Carrying Capacity: Upper Body Strength & Neuromuscular Control
Most strength programs train the body in one plane — straight forward, straight up, straight down. But real life happens in three. This session focuses on what conventional gym programming leaves out: multiplanar movement, neuromuscular control, and integrated upper-body strength — the kind that translates to carrying groceries, catching yourself when you slip, lifting a child, and aging without losing function. This is the strength turn of the Farm-Fit Series, and we approach it the way the body actually has to work in the world: in every direction, with control, with the smaller stabilizers turned on. The workout (45 min): Pushing, pulling, carrying, and rotational patterns using bodyweight and minimal equipment. Push-ups, rows, farmer carries, anti-rotation work, and integrated patterns that train motor control alongside strength. The didactic (30 min, over brunch): Strength as a longevity biomarker. Why grip strength predicts mortality. What's missing from "compound lift" approaches for general health, and why neuromuscular control matters more after 40 than another 20 pounds on the bar.
Bring: Workout clothes, sneakers, water.

Open Space at Ethos
Every word associated with gardening can be applied to our lives beyond the soil. Gardening can teach us a great deal about how to live life. It is a metaphor we can turn to again and again, especially in times when we need reassurance and inspiration.
Growing a garden is an act of hope. Whether you are planting a container of parsley or an acre of corn, the miracle is all the same. It is an opportunity to renew ourselves and our world every single day. It is a sign that we believe in the potential for healing and regeneration for all of us.
Open Space at the farm will provide a hub in which to gather and engage in an ongoing discussion of topics we care deeply about. No prep or materials needed, just come with your thoughts, ideas, questions, and musings.

Open Spaces with Wendy Rosen at Ethos Farm to Health Session #4
No prep or materials needed -- just come with your thoughts, ideas, questions, and musings.

Healthy Radiant Skin
Join Board Certified dermatologist and lifestyle medicine expert Dr. Jessica Krant to explore the powerful connection between gut health, nutrition, and radiant skin from the inside out!
Jessica Krant, MD, MPH, FAAD, FACLM is a board certified dermatologist in New York City as well as one of the first dermatologists to be board certified in Lifestyle Medicine, a new field of study focusing on six pillars of healthy lifestyle choices to obtain optimal health and healthy aging as naturally as possible.
Dr. Krant’s passion is the overlap of these two fields: achieving healthy aging and healthy skin from within. Knowing that it’s always easy for us to learn what to do, but hard to actually do it since mental health and healthy habits are a two way street, Dr. Krant also became a certified life coach to help her patients and her coaching clients manage life realities and life stressors that get in the way of our health and dreams.
Dr. Krant is currently President of the New York County Medical Society, Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at SUNY Downstate Medical Center, Delegate to the American Medical Association representing Dermatology, and serving on the Medical Advisory Board of Plant Powered Metro New York. She does not see private patients at Downstate or King's County Hospitals, but is proud of serving for more than 20 years as an attending supporting the Dermatology Residents of this great program.

Fields of Calm: A Tapping Experience!
Surrounded by open fields, fresh air, and the quiet wisdom of nature at Ethos Farm to Health, this workshop is led by tapping Instructor Beth Troesch Lacorazza and is an invitation to slow down and root yourself in calm.
Tapping is a gentle, grounding practice that helps settle the nervous system like placing your bare feet on steady earth. Tapping involves tapping pressure points on the body and saying words of self-acceptance to reduce anxiety. Through guided tapping, mindful breath, and moments of stillness, we’ll release tension, soften racing thoughts, and reconnect to your natural state of balance.
No experience is needed. Bring a water bottle and an open mind.

Music on the Farm with Karen Kamenetsk
Bio
I've been writing for as long as I can remember.
At first I wrote poems illustrated with ink and watercolor drawings. Later, I wrote stories and sold them to Highlights for Children, Young Miss (YM), Children's Digest, and Story Friends magazines. I sold non-fiction to Cobblestone and Health Explorer magazines.
Come listen to Karen Kamenetsky this Friday at Ethos Farm to Health!
I wrote lullabies for my children, and, when I was fifty two, a song for my sister Christine. That song led me to connect with Renee & Clark Paddock at their Riverside Rhythm and Rhyme open mic. Together with my dear friend Phil Landis, we began performing, as Karen Kamenetsky & Friends, at coffee houses, music festivals, farm markets, and one "Great American Roadhouse",
I recorded Every Day Matters at Mountain Ledge Musicin 2011 and Sing With Me, in 2012. Songs from With This Flame, have been playing on Sirius XM Radio's Hanukkah Channel, Jet Blue, United Airlines, and in some unidentified elevators, every year since its release in 2013. My songs have also been featured on the Woman of Substance Radio Podcast.
I've been interviewed on WRNJ, by Mel Thiel at WNTI, Ron Olesko at WDFU, and Joe Pszonek at WMSC radio, on the "Horses Sing None of It" Cable Television show (#537, 3/14/2012), and on The Songwriter's Gig podcast.
