NOFA NJ Food as Medicine
Overview
On March 20, 2026, at 7:00 pm, the webinar will bring together nationally respected voices to explore the connection between soil health, food quality, and human health. Featured speakers include David Montgomery and Anne Biklé, authors of What Your Food Ate, alongside Dr. Ron Weiss, who will discuss how whole-food diets can help prevent and treat chronic illness.
David and Anne will draw from their latest book What Your Food Ate as well as their others to present the connections between soil health and human health. They'll share the science underpinning soil health in gardening and farming and how it influences crops, livestock, and ultimately the human diet and human health. It turns out that what’s good for the land is good for us too.
Dr. Weiss will explore why a nontoxic, nutrient-dense, locally and conscientiously grown diet matters for both human and planetary health, and share the story behind the creation of Ethos Farm as a living model of farm-based healthcare.
Bird-A-Thon with Raritan Headwaters
Ethos Farm to Health is supporting Raritan Headwaters Bird-a-Thon! Stop by Ethos Farm to Health on Friday May 1, 10am to 12pm to look for as many bird species you can find!
Raritan Headwaters works to protect and preserve critical watershed habitat for New Jersey’s native and migratory bird species. By protecting clean water in our streams and rivers, restoring climate resilient habitats and educating residents, we are working to protect precious natural resources and native wildlife populations from further decline. With your support, we can sustain this important conservation work into the future!

Parking: https://maps.app.goo.gl/ZZjHEjpKzjYpEi1v6

Along the route, participants will be invited to intentionally engage the five senses — noticing sounds, textures, scents, colors, and the feeling of the body in motion. Short guided pauses will offer space for breathing, quiet observation, and simple reflection, helping participants slow down, ground, and reconnect with the present moment. There is no pressure to share or perform; the experience is focused on personal awareness and gentle connection.
This walk is suitable for a Fitness Level 2 and requires no prior hiking experience. The pace will be steady and accessible, with time to rest, observe, and enjoy the surroundings. Participants should wear weather-appropriate clothing and sturdy footwear, and are encouraged to bring water and a snack if desired.

Rooted: A Mindful Practice with the Land
Aligning Inner Rhythms with the Land: A mindfulness-based yoga workshop
Nature moves through seasons of growth, bloom, harvest, and rest. Our nervous systems are designed to move through similar cycles. Yet modern life often asks us to remain in a constant rhythm of doing and giving, even when our bodies may be needing something different. Over time, this can leave us feeling depleted, scattered, or disconnected from our own natural pace.
This experiential workshop invites participants to slow down and explore the natural “seasons” of the nervous system through mindful movement, gentle yoga, and somatic practices. Inspired by the harmony of the seasons, we’ll explore qualities that mirror the seasons - winter, spring, summer, and autumn - and have the opportunity to develop greater awareness of what season our bodies may be. The practice will close with reflective rest, allowing space to integrate the experience and consider how we may meet your own inner rhythms with greater awareness and care as we move into the months ahead.
This workshop is open to all levels, and modifications will be offered to support accessibility. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring a mat.
Hosted by Janine Ilsley https://www.janineleightherapy.com/
About the Facilitator
Janine is a somatic-based psychotherapist and yoga instructor based in Montclair, NJ. Her work integrates mindfulness, nervous system awareness, and body-based practices to support emotional resilience and deeper connection with oneself and the ecosystems around us.
